Dr. Chen encourages her patients to have their teeth cleaned and examined every 6 months.  Regular cleaning and examination is very important in maintaining good oral hygiene.  During cleaning, Dr. Chen and her hygienists will use hand and ultrasonic instruments to remove plaque on the teeth.  Plaque built-up is the cause for gum diseases.  If you see blood when brushing your teeth, you may have a gum problem.  Severe gum disease can cause debonding of teeth from jaw bones, and eventually losing teeth.
